Mrs. OSINT Challenge 13

Hey readers! For the 13th challenge in Mrs. OSINT’s series, Reflections of a Clue, I braced myself for something complex. To my surprise, it was one of the easier puzzles so far. That doesn’t make it less valuable. In fact, it’s a great reminder that in OSINT, the simplest clues are often the most powerful.

Let’s get started!

Challenge 13

Tasks:

  1. What city am I in?
  2. What is this exact location called?
  3. Provide me the closest coordinates to my exact location.
  4. Describe what makes this place unique?
  5. What search terms would you use to identify this place from such a cropped image?
View of a moving walkway in an airport, featuring illuminated edges and a traveler with a suitcase in the background.

The cropped up image does not give us much to go off but definitely gives airport vibes. I conducted a reverse image search and found multiple matches from different instagram accounts but unfortunately none of them named the location.

A moving walkway in a brightly lit airport terminal, featuring sleek lines and illuminated edges.

They still gave us something to work with… an uncropped version of our image!

Using one of these images and “airport” as a keyword I was able to match this location to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport thanks to this video. If you don’t watch the video just know it shows us this is located between Concourse A and B, and the specific location is called Flight Paths.

According to Atlanta Magazine “the recently debuted Flight Paths at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is a permanent installation between terminals A and B that puts travelers under a stylized tree canopy, complete with bird calls, cricket chirps, and a simulated thunderstorm. The project’s $4 million cost was covered by a program that dedicates 1 percent of all capital spending at the world’s busiest airport to visual and performing art. The installation includes approximately 13,000 individual leaves and 24,000 LED lights. Sharp-eared listeners will hear the calls of 20 different birds, from cardinals and hawks to waterfowl like ducks and herons.”

It’s hard to tell which section of the walkway we are on using our challenge image but after reviewing multiple videos I believe it to be closer to Concourse B. With the help of Google Maps I found the coordinates to the walkway and happen to be close to Concourse B. The image must have been taken near: 33.64062951813161, -84.43638700711189.

Solutions

  1. What city am I in?
    Solution: Atlanta
  2. What is this exact location called?
    Solution: Flight Paths
  3. Provide me the closest coordinates to my exact location.
    Solution: 33.64062951813161, -84.43638700711189
  4. Describe what makes this place unique?
Solution: it’s a stylized tree canopy comprised of 13,000 leaves and 24,000 LED lights that cost $4 million to build. It includes bird calls, cricket chirps, and simulated thunderstorm.
  5. What search terms would you use to identify this place from such a cropped image?
Solution: Besides the methodology I used to solve this challenge we could have also used these key terms: walkway, moving walkway, airport, colorful walkway airport.

While Challenge 13 turned out to be more straightforward than expected, it still carried an important lesson: even the simplest images can hold powerful clues if you know where and how to look.

By combining reverse image searches with keywords we were able to confirm the location and learn about a unique art installation hiding in plain sight at the world’s busiest airport. Sometimes OSINT isn’t about unraveling the most complex puzzle but about staying curious, testing different angles, and trusting that even an easy find strengthens the habits we’ll rely on for tougher challenges ahead.

Thanks for following along. See you in Challenge 14!
